Starz #TakeTheLead and Veterans in Media and Entertainment, a nonprofit connecting U.S. military veterans with careers in entertainment, have set the first year cohort for their Creative Mentorship Program for Television Writers and Producers. The inaugural cohort includes Rachael Brant, Thada Catalon, Shannon Corbeil, Libby Friz, Sarah Hopkins, Satinder Kaur, Lynelle White, and Jazmyn Wright.

“Veterans bring extraordinary life experience to storytelling, having served as medics, pilots, lawyers, diplomats, linguists, intelligence experts, and more,” shared Karen Kraft, VME Board Chair and Executive Director. “After our time in service, though, we can find ourselves playing catch-up to our civilian peers, especially in this industry where who you know is as important as what you know. Starz is actively helping bridge that gap by speeding up the learning curve and fostering connections.

When Napoleon Bonaparte’s scandalous little sister Pauline was meant to pose as the virginal goddess Diana for a renowned sculptor, she shocked the empire by posing a lá Venus instead — totes nude.

This feminist comedy takes place at the party where the statue is unveiled. (TRUE STORY!)

The play sold out its final three shows with rave audience and press reviews and award recognition including:

MARIA SHRIVER INVITES SHANNON TO BE LOS ANGELES POET DURING BOOK TOUR

Live Talks Los Angeles hosted an evening with Maria Shriver in conversation with Simon Sinek to discuss her book I Am Maria: My Reflections and Poems on Heartbreak, Healing, and Finding Your Way Home. In addition, Devi Brown shared an opening meditation, Rita Wilson performed multiple songs, and Shannon Corbeil read original poems she wrote for the event.

‘THE KNIFE’ WINS at TRIBECA FILM FESTIVAL

Shannon Corbeil appeared as Officer Snell in the Duplass Brothers Productions feature film THE KNIFE as it celebrated its world premiere at the 2024 Tribeca Film Festival. Directed by Nnamdi Asomugha, THE KNIFE took Best Cinematography in a U.S. Narrative Feature for Alejandro Mejia and Asomugha was named Best New Narrative Director.

All Chris (Nnamdi Asomugha) wants is to carve a promising future for his beloved wife Alex (Aja Naomi King) and their two girls; a young family chasing the American Dream. One fateful night, Chris’ entire world is shaken to its core as a stranger mysteriously shows up in their humble abode. Distressed by the events of the night and the revelations seemingly at every turn, the family must also contend with the steadfast Detective Carlsen (Melissa Leo) who’s eager to solve the mystery of their intrusion.

This stunning directorial debut by Nnamdi Asomugha pulls into focus the fraught relationship between choice and consequence, all tense escalation handled with the care and grace of a staunch veteran. As decisions big and small weigh heavy on the heads of our characters, the film’s exercise in unpacking ethical and moral quandaries ever-present during everyday life will leave an unfathomable mark on those within the frame as well as the eyes who lay upon them. ––Casey Baron

In the midst of the SAG-AFTRA union strike, Shannon booked a great role on a SAG-AFTRA Interim Agreement project: the iconic BEYOND BELIEF: FACT OR FICTION starring host Jonathan Frakes. Keep an eye out for Season 6 Episode 3 directed by Holger Frick, Steffen Hacker, and Esther Maaß and featuring Leni Adams and Danny Trejo.

BOOKED IT! 'THE KNIFE' DUPLASS BROTHERS FILM

Shannon spent a week onset filming the upcoming feature The Knife written by Mark Duplass (Safety Not Guaranteed, Language Lessons) and Nnamdi Asomugha (Harriet, The Banker) who also directed and starred in the film alongside Academy Award Winner Melissa Leo (The Fighter), Aja Naomi King (Lessons in Chemistry), and Manny Jacinto (The Good Place).
